Song Maps
These drawings were created during our Creative Fellowship at State Library of Victoria. They developed as a way to capture ideas about west Melbourne as we went on psychogeography walking trips, and accessed collection material. We drew inspiration from the Library’s map, rare book, oral history and image collections. These drawings became a place where we could collapse time and space, and include many layers of history and ideas about place, all in one composition. The drawings also became images in which to hold words, thoughts and poems, along with topography and geology. Limbic song maps. We use copies of them in our performances.
The original drawings are now held in the State Library of Victoria Pictures Collection.
